10 GROUND SUPPORT WORLDWIDE • MARCH 2014 COVER STORY SETTING GLOBAL RAMP SAFETY STANDARDS S ince it is very little regulated by government authorities, the ground support industry is char- acterized by a tradition of self-reg- ulation. While the International Air Trans- port Association's ground safety programs, in particular the Safety Audit for Ground Op- erations (ISAGO), may be the most followed and structured industry initiatives for safety performance improvements on the ramp, other initiatives have also taken shape in the industry to provide airside safety managers with operational and safety standards.
